Comments:
These beautiful wristwatches were issued to RAF navigators and pilots during the Second World War.
RAF watches from this period were supplied by a number of prestigious watch manufacturers including Longines, Jaeger Le-Coultre and Omega. These watches followed a standard specification which also included a white dial with black arabic numerals, centre seconds and blued steel luminous hands. The black dialled watches are particularly rare.
These watches are commonly referred to by their RAF stores reference number of 6B/159. This RAF stores reference refers to aircraft navigation equipment.
In 1956 the RAF underwent a program of rationalising their stores – they produced a new, stainless steel case for all their remaining stock of second world war watches. This new case replaced the low-cost alloy cases which the watches were ordered with and allowed the RAF to keep using the high quality movements.
The wonderful Omega 6B/159 for sale represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a superb piece of British WW2 aviation history.
The watch has just been serviced and is provided with 12 months warranty / certificate of authenticity.
We can ship worldwide and will always consider a Part Exchange.
