This beautiful watch is probably one of the hardest to get a decent picture of !
Its jet black face allows the crystal glass to reflect everything and even with a professional light box Im struggling to get a really crisp picture !
However what is the history behind this great timepiece ?
Mont Blanc is in fact a german company despite the French sounding name ! and we all know Mont Blanc as the purveyors of high quality writing instruments and they have been doing this for over 100 years
The Mont Blanc white star emblem is famous worldwide and has also been used on fine jewellery , leather goods and other luxury lifestyle goods synonymous with a quality lifestyle .The Meisterstuck fountain pen was their flagship writing instrument and it seemed natural 1997 to transfer this name to this fantastic blend of top class Horology and the art of jewellery making.
Rather than simply buying in a product from another firm they founded the Montblanc Montre S.A. in Le Locle. This is the area of the Jura mountains that is considered to be the birthplace of watchmaking outside of England. Most Montblanc watches are conceived and built at their workshop premises that were originally built in 1906 and forms a beautiful backdrop to the whole process. It is also the case that Mont Blanc as company was formed in the same year this Art Nouveau building was constructed.
In just 18 years Mont Blanc has gained an enviable reputation for its quality timepieces the same philosophy being transferred from all of its experience with quality crafted goods.
Their first collection of Horological timepieces named Meisterstuck won acclaim at their first outing at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), the prestigious watch exhibition held every year in Geneva.
