For sale we have a very rare watch. This is a 9ct gold François Borgel Officers watch from World War One. Borgel was a pioneer of waterproof watches, often referred to a Borgel cases, the name has become synonymous with watch cases that have threaded bezels and caseback’s. This watch has an early design, the movement is cases in a threaded housing the is screwed into the watch case.
The movement and case are both original, as can be seen from the movement and material these watches were expensive for Trench watches and were only available to high ranking officers. The watch has a distinctive black dial, with cathedral style hands and a subsidiary dial. The case size is 34mm making it a large watch for vintage standards.
